Here are a few tips on how to get ready for your Debs, including tips for when your debs is a few weeks away up until the night of.
The Perfect Dress.
Start gathering ideas for your dress from magazine, Pinterest, online shops etc. Decide what style of dress you’d like, do you want an off the shoulder top or a sweetheart top? What colour you’d like? Short or long? Gather all of your ideas and then go shopping! Start this process at least a month or two before your debs because it’s very unlikely for you to find the perfect dress the first time. There are also some great shops now that rent debs dresses, so consider if this might also be an option for you.
If your dress is strapless, backless or has a low cut plunging neckline and you opt not to wear a bra, a perfect solution is Bye Breast Lift Tape with concealers. For boob tube style dresses – invest in some Upsie Daisie Tape or Fashion Tape to prevent having to pull and tug at your dress all night long.
Another idea is to add Strappys decorative bra straps to any convertible strapless bra to give extra support and comfort to your dress.
Lastly don’t forget to wear nipple concealers especially when going braless or if your dress is made of light sheer material, we suggest these re-usable silicone concealers “Hollywood Cover Ups”. They are very comfortable to wear and easy to apply.
Some Tender Loving Care.
Before the big event relax with different hair masks and skincare treatments. Do these at least a couple of weeks before to make sure you don’t have an adverse reaction. If everything goes smoothly, do the treatments again the night before. If you are getting a spray tan or your nails done ensure to have these booked well advance with your beauty salon and likewise if you are getting your hair and makeup done.
Try on your dress, shoes, accessories, clutch to ensure you are happy and comfortable with your complete look. This gives you an opportunity to ensure you have not forgot anything you might need. If you are doing your own makeup and hair, give it a trial run too. This way you can iron out any kinks and test what products you’ll need to bring with you for touch ups.
Ensure to wear in new shoes in advance of the big night, there is nothing worse than an hour into the night and your feet are in bits from new heels. A useful tip is to include a pair of foldable flats in your bag which you can change into when the dancing starts.
Before you head out the door, make sure to pack your clutch!
A night full of dancing and glamour awaits, and you want to look and feel your best, but no one wants to lug around a heavy clutch. First and foremost determine the size of your clutch, and pack your phone, money, and (possibly) keys. These items are the most essential items! From there you can see how much room you have left for additional makeup or hair products. Here are some quick tips and suggestions on packing the essentials your debs night!
- When packing extra makeup and hair products think of what makeup you’ll be wearing that night and how your hair will be. Then determine what you’d like to make sure it stays in place, rule out any product you don’t think are vital!
- Here are a few items you may want to pack (aside from extra makeup!): Blotting Paper, Manicure on the Go, Hand Sanitizer, Perfume Atomiser, Bobby Pins, Hair Ties, Safety Pins, Breath Mints, Deodorant Wipes, Dental Floss, Stain Remover, Eye makeup remover & corrector swabs, Foldable Flats, Stylette Fashion & Beauty Kit.
If your friend is going to the debs too, talk with her and split the items… you can co-ordinate who takes what for an even lighter bag!
Miniature products are your best friend when it comes to packing, if you can get your hands on small tester or travel containers you can always transfer your products too!
Day of Prep.
The day of your debs, get a group of friends together to do your makeup, hair, and to just generally have a great time. Having all of your girlfriends together and then having all the boys meet at the same house is a lot of fun, especially for group pictures. We’d recommend having three-four hours to get ready so that then you can do so at a relaxed pace.
